Bushcraft and Survival Skills
What happens in the session?
To make the most of the woodland and the difference between seasons, we offer a slightly different session dependent on time of year. Why not complete them all!? All sessions are instructor led. Each session will take place in our hidden woodland clearing, just a short walk from our main activity centre.
Foraging Food - Spring (Start of Easter Holidays - End of May Half Term)
How long could you survive without food? Learn about hunter and gatherers, explore the woodland and see what you can find. End the session cooking a snack over an open fire.
Water Purification - Summer (End of May Half Term - End of Summer Holidays)
How long could you survive without water? Explore water collection and create your own water filter to test out over an open fire.
Shelter Making - Summer (Start of September - end of November)
What do we need to survive? Can you make a shelter that could protect you from the rain? How about an earthquake?
Fire Lighting and Knife Skills - Winter (Start of December - Start of Easter Holidays)
Use ferrous rods and strikers to create a spark...can you turn that spark into a fire? How long can you keep it burning for?
Who are these activities for?
These activities are suitable for anyone aged eight or over. You have the option to book individual spaces on this session or, if no spaces have sold, you can book the session exclusively for your group of up to 12 people by selecting the "Private group" option.
