Caving
How does it work?
The Mendip Hills has the largest underground cave network in the UK. Experience the amazing underground labyrinth of passages and caverns first hand.
Meet your instructor at the Burrington Combe Carpark where you'll get kitted out in boiler suit, helmet and headtorch. We have wellies available or you're welcome to bring and wear you own. You'll go through a briefing before taking a short walk to the cave entrance and heading below the surface. Crawl, walk, climb, lower and pull yourself through the subterrranean caverns and discover flowing formations and stalagmites and stalactites hidden deep beneath our feet.
Our instructors will tailor the session to your ability and allow you to progress at your own pace, ensuring your experience is unique, enjoyable and a much more than any open cave tours.
Who are these activities for?
These activities are suitable for anyone aged eight or over. You have the option to book individual spaces on this session or, if no spaces have sold, you can book the session exclusively for your group of up to 10 people by selecting the "Private group" option. If you book the session exclusively we can relax the age restriction and you can bring children aged six or seven. When caving sessions are booked exclusively (as a "Private group"), there must be at least one adult aged 18+ taking part.
What to wear?
Wear old clothes you don't mind getting muddy or damp.
