Thurski Juniors

Thursday night is ski night! ThurSki is our weekly ski club, the ideal way to continue developing your skills after completion of our Learn to Ski Course

Is it right for me?

Junior ThurSki is for ages 5 to 16. Everyone must be at a recreational standard so able to stop on demand, control speed, steer and avoid other objects and users and use the button drag lift.

How does it work?

Our experienced, qualified instructors will meet you in our equipment room and get you kitted out with skis, boots and a helmet. Equipment is always included in our prices - you'll just need to bring a pair of gloves and wear full length sleeves and trousers.
These sessions are a little more informal than our course of the lessons. Each week will have a slightly different focus. We will work with you to refine your technique and you'll even have a go at trying out slalom poles!

There is no commitment to come weekly, or even monthly. Why not come along and try out a session, the ThurSki bunch are a friendly lot!
FAQ's

Junior Thur'ski is designed for ages 5 - 16 and adult Thur'ski for ages 16+. If you have not attended before, please book the session suitable for your age range.

Sometimes our instructors will suggest that teenagers would benefit more from the adult session than the junior but this will always be a discussion with you and the choice is ultimately up to you.

Thurski is a fun, progressive ski club. We aim to use these sessions to improve your technique and continue developing your ski skills in a fun, informal club atmosphere. Feel free to come along as suits you, just do the one session, come monthly, weekly or however suits you.

If you are looking to attend regularly, make sure you check out our Thur'ski voucher offers - the more you buy, the cheaper they become!

Not at all! Whether you have just learnt to ski or have been skiing for years, you are welcome to join Thurski! The best advice we have if you're unsure is to come along for a session and see if it's for you! Our friendly instructor team will tailor their tuition to you and your ability. Even if you have lots of previous ski experience, Thurski is a great chance to continue challenging yourself and get regular ski practice whilst meeting new people.

General FAQ's

This ranges depending on the activity...

Tobogganing is available for ages 4+

Skiing is available for ages 5+

Snowboarding is for ages 8+ (but must also have at least a size 2 feet and be 1.2m tall)

Frisbee Golf does not have an age restriction and under 6's play for free

Our outdoor activity sessions can be run in two ways, with different minimum ages:

If you are booking individual spaces on an activity session, the minimum age is 8.

You are also able to book a session privately just for your group. If you book the session exclusively we can relax the age restriction to include children aged 6 or 7. At least one adult must take part and be included in the group if there is anyone taking part under the age of 8.

As an outdoor activity centre we go ahead whatever the weather! The only exception to this rule is lightning directly over the centre, which we monitor very closely. Make sure you bring a change of clothes if it's raining, wrap up warm if it's windy, and drink plenty of fluids if it's hot. Make an adventure of it!!!

All of our activity sites have plenty of parking onsite. Parking is free of charge.

We are very fortunate to be situated in such a stunning location set in the Mendip hills. Unfortunately, this does come with its limitations. We currently only have stair access to our slopes and cafe, and the paths leading to our onsite activities can be fairly muddy and uneven.

Pushchairs/wheelchairs/mobility scooters may struggle depending on what part of the centre they are trying to access. We are always happy to try and help where we can so please do give us a call to discuss your individual requirements.

You will receive a confirmation email from us once your booking has been made. Sometimes this email can end up in your junk folder, so please check there first if you can't find it.

If you can't find a confirmation email, your online booking may not have been fully completed - please check whether the session you were trying to book is still available online. If it is, please try to make the booking again. If it's not, please contact us so that we can check what's happened.

If you've searched through our list of FAQs to see and still can't find the answer, there are a few ways you can get in touch.

We are currently operating our cafe out of Mendip Lodge rather than the Alpine Lounge. This is just a few minutes walk up the hill from the main centre.  It is open 7 days a week during the school Summer holidays from 8.30am until 9pm (10pm on Saturday).

We operate on a walk-in basis only and do not take reservations for tables or food.

Mendip Activity Centre, Mendip Lodge and Mendip Basecamp are all cashless.

We accept all major credit and debit cards (excluding American express).

Yes! We have a bunkhouse right on site that is available year round and, during the Summer months, we have 2 canvas villages onsite also.
